Belgium is making a strong mark on the US economy. In 2024, Belgian businesses directly employed 82,400 people across the US, marking a notable increase from 2023. This upward trend reflects not only the strength and resilience of Belgian enterprises, but also their growing and dynamic footprint. 


Belgium is also the 13th largest source of foreign direct investment in the US

Contributing $73.5 billion in FDI shows impressive presence and highlights Belgium’s ability to consistently punch above its weight on the global economic stage.

A strong year for US-EU trade and investment in Belgium

2024 was a strong year not only for the US-EU trade relationship, but also for bilateral trade and investment between Belgium and the US. Trade between the two nations remains robust and well-balanced.


Belgium records trade surplus with US

Belgium is one of only seven EU member states with which the United States recorded a trade surplus, a testament to the strong trade ties and the continued attractiveness of Belgium as a key partner in Europe and beyond. Belgium also ranks as the fifth largest export platform globally for US companies, cementing its position as a critical gateway for American goods into European and international markets.
