Business Confidence Survey
How confident is the international business community in Belgium as a business and investment destination? The third edition of the Business Barometer, a biennial study conducted jointly by AmCham Belgium and A.T. Kearney, presents the results of a survey among international companies in Belgium conducted in June 2018 as we approach the 2019 federal and regional elections.
The Business Barometer focuses on three key questions that matter most to business:
Our research shows that international companies are more confident in the country’s investment climate than two years ago. Benefiting from stronger economic fundamentals and reforms of the current government, the international business community continues to say #Yes2Belgium as a place to invest and do business. However, the competition is also improving, and the Belgian Government will need to continue down its path of reform to stay competitive.
- 33% of survey respondents indicate the Belgian investment climate has improved in the past three years, compared to neighboring countries, nearly twice as many as in 2014;
- 59% of respondents plan to expand their Belgian-based operations within the next three years, a slight improvement over 2016 but more than double the 2014 results; and
- 80% of those companies planning to invest expect to create jobs.
