Team of specialists detects money leaks within companies.
Brussels, 14 July 2016. EY Belgium today announced the acquisition of A-THREE, a consulting firm specializing in detecting, recovering and preventing “Revenue Leakage” in companies. Studies show that an average of 1 to 5 percent of gross profit slips unnoticed through the fingers of companies. For the Belgian top 500, this means “leakage” of at least 400 million euro in gross profit, but the amount could be as high as 2 billion euro. The acquisition finds its context in EY’s wide-ranging strategy to deepen activities in specific domains, and to significantly increase sector knowledge in the service of its clients. It will also give A-THREE the opportunity to continue its international growth within the EY organization.
A-THREE was founded in 2010 by Ludwig Bollaerts and Steve Van der Steen, and in recent years has grown into one of the leading start-ups in the area of Revenue Leakage. A-THREE has a strong customer-oriented track record with a high level of expertise in the consumer goods sector. The firm will now be operating under the EY brand. Ludwig Bollaerts and Steve Van der Steen will both become directors at EY.
This new acquisition underlines EY’s strategy and ambition to selectively invest in specific niche areas that have immediate added value for the client. Despite regular controls by in-house financial departments, automated ERP systems, strict internal and external audits, each company – regardless of size or sector – is faced with “leakage” through which revenue simply disappears. The expertise of A-THREE strengthens the activities and growth ambitions of EY.
Rudi Braes, CEO and Chairman of EY Belgium: “This acquisition will allow us to continue to meet the increasing demand from our clients in this specific niche domain. Having many competencies in house increases the quality of our services”.
Ludwig Bollaerts, managing partner of A-THREE: “This acquisition is a fantastic opportunity for us and our clients. It offers our organization not only superb growth prospects, but also a broadening of the expertise and more growth opportunities for our employees”.
“We are seeing increasing demand for our services. In addition to traditional demand from telco, distribution and retail, today requests for Revenue Leakage screening also come from all other major sectors. The government and for example major cities are now also requesting such services. The outcome has a significant positive impact on operating profit and the annual budget”, concludes Steve Van der Steen, managing partner of A-THREE.
