Rudi Braes named to top international position at EY as Vice-Chair EY EMEIA
EY announced today that from 1 July, Patrick Rottiers will succeed Rudi Braes as Country Managing Partner of EY Belgium. Patrick Rottiers will be working closely with Rudi Braes in the coming months to ensure a seamless transfer at the top of EY Belgium. Rudi Braes, Regional Managing Partner of EY Belgium and the Netherlands, was appointed as Vice-Chair EY EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa). In this capacity, he is number two in the key EMEIA region, which is home to no less than 120.000 employees across 98 countries in three continents.
Patrick Rottiers new Country Managing Partner of EY Belgium
Rudi Braes will be succeeded at EY Belgium by Patrick Rottiers who will be the new Country Managing Partner from 1 July 2017. Patrick Rottiers is an economist by education. He holds a master’s degree in economics and an additional master’s in far eastern business. He started work at EY in 1988 and has nearly 30 years of experience in the organization. Patrick has been a “bedrijfsrevisor / réviseur d’entreprises” with the IBR / IRE (Institute of Company Auditors) since 1992.
He also worked for a time at the EY office in Baltimore in the United States. After his return to Belgium, he gained experience in various departments at the company and progressively took on new and greater responsibilities. He became a partner in 2000. In 2003, he became Real Estate Leader EY Belgium and in 2008 was appointed as Managing Partner for the region Antwerp and Limburg.
Since July 2011, Patrick is the managing partner of EY Bedrijfsrevisoren / Réviseurs d’entreprises. He has been a member of the Regional Leadership Team of Belgium and the Netherlands since 1 July 2016, where he is responsible for Risk Management.
Patrick has developed specific client expertise at EY in the service of Belgian family businesses with international operations. He also has extensive expertise in the IFRS and US GAAP international accounting standards.

Rudi Braes to become Vice-Chair EY EMEIA
From 1 July 2017, Rudi Braes, Country Managing Partner Belgium and Regional Managing Partner of EY Belgium and the Netherlands, will be Vice-Chair EY EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa). In this capacity, he will be the number two in the important EMEIA region. Together with Andy Baldwin, Chair of EMEIA, he will be responsible for a region with no less than 120.000 employees that extends across 98 countries on three continents. Rudi Braes will be the first Belgian to fill this top international position at EY.
Antwerpian Rudi Braes (1966) started at EY in 1990, after completing his studies in commercial and financial sciences. He became an auditor in 1996, and gradually moved up the organization in subsequent years. He was appointed partner in 2000.
In the period 2003 – 2008, he was Industrial Products Leader for Western Europe and he managed EY’s client satisfaction program for the same region. In 2007, he founded the China Desk, a department within EY Belgium that focuses on economic relationships with the exponentially growing Chinese market. In June 2008, he became a member of the Audit Management Team for Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2011, Rudi Braes was appointed Country Managing Partner Belgium. Since 2012 he has held his current position, that of Regional Managing Partner for Belgium and the Netherlands and a member of the EMEIA Executive Management Team.
With his appointment as Vice-Chair EY EMEIA, Rudi Braes will enter the top international management of EY.
