Loyens & Loeff appoints five new partners

Reinforcing its full-service strategy

Amsterdam, 22 December 2014 – Loyens & Loeff, attorneys, tax advisers and civil law notaries, today appointed Natalie Reypens, Gerard Blokland, Bastiaan Cornelisse, Tom van Helmond and Michael Scott partners effective from 1 January 2015. After the joining of the five partners, the total number of partners as per 1 January 2015 will be 103.

Natalie Reypens (1973), attorney at law, is a member of the general Tax practice group in Belgium and the head of the Belgian Transfer Pricing team. She has more than 17 years’ experience in international corporate tax planning, with a strong focus on transfer pricing. Because they are so interwoven, the combination of a tax practice with a transfer pricing practice is so strong that it offers a tremendous advantage in the current tax environment.

Gerard Blokland (1978), tax adviser, is a member of the general Tax practice group. He specialises in advising (inter)national family businesses and their managing directors/major shareholders, for which he possesses a wide and international tax expertise. Within the firm he acts as point of contact for reports and agreements with the tax authorities on the application of the so-called innovation box. His appointment underlines the importance and the growing size of this practice group within Loyens & Loeff.

Bastiaan Cornellisse (1974), candidate civil law notary, is a member of the Corporate/M&A practice group  and has been at the firm for 14 years. He specialises in advising (inter)national clients with regard to Dutch corporate law. He focuses on cross-border restructuring and the more fiscal side of corporate law. Thanks to his fluency in French, Bastiaan is well equipped to concentrate on the French market and other French-speaking countries.

Tom van Helmond (1979), attorney at law, is a member of the Competition & Regulatory practice group  He has a complete picture of the extensive and complex world of health care regulations. Tom is respected by his clients for his creative solutions and they consider him an important strategic legal sparring partner. In addition, in recent years, he has built an impressive track record as a litigator in the care sector as well as in procurement disputes. Within the firm’s Health Care team, Tom is the driving force behind the integrated services and features that symbolise Loyens & Loeff and the added value that the firm provides clients in the care sector.

Michael Scott (1979), attorney at law, is a member of the Corporate/M&A practice group in Luxembourg. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions and has extensive experience in corporate requests concerning Luxembourg companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The past years, he advised several large international companies in the field of corporate restructuring and has some of the largest private equity funds as clients. Clients appreciate his sharp, creative and no-nonsense approach.
