COVID-19 Update

With offices closing and employees now working remotely, events being canceled, and companies adapting to this new reality, COVID-19 has had a massive impact on businesses around the entire globe.

It is in times like these that community, communication and solidarity will play a major role in navigating through this difficult situation. Now, more than ever, it is important that we find ways to stay connected and help you share knowledge with each other.

That is why we have created this page dedicated to sharing business advice and highlighting stories of how our member companies are participating in the coronavirus crisis response.

In this way, AmCham Belgium wishes not only to reinforce our commitment to members, but allow you to support each other as well: A community stands together, in good times and bad.

We are here to listen to and learn from you, so don’t hesitate to contribute to this resource page and share your stories with the community.

Contact Eleni (ewebber@amcham.be) if you would like to share knowledge or your story with the AmCham Belgium community.

The tech world unites against corona during online hackathon HACK THE CRISIS

On the weekend of March 27-29, the Belgian tech and startup world come together to launch a public platform to create dedicated solutions during an online hackathon: HACK THE CRISIS. Inspired by previous initiatives in other European countries, the Belgian edition will be an intense weekend during which several teams will work remotely on various economic and social problems, all of which are linked to the corona crisis. This public online event invites developers, innovative companies, tech players, research institutions, creatives, and everyone who wants to join forces to, virtually, put the minds together and come up with innovative solutions to counter this crisis.

Read more about the initiative and how to get involved here.

United Together: United Airlines is flying between Newark and Brussels on March 26 and 27

United Airlines is flying between Newark and Brussels today and tomorrow – the only commercial carrier operating between the US and Belgium at the moment – to help Belgians in the US who have an urgent need to return to Belgium. The airline also has an important but reduced domestic network, connecting to this flight too.

Flight UA999: March 26 and 27 – 8:00 p.m. departure from Newark EWR – 8:05 a.m. arrival in Brussels BRU the next morning. For any urgent help you or your company may need, contact Alexander Vanryckeghem.

In these challenging times, United Airlines plays an essential role in helping to connect people. The airline will rebuild the connections between Brussels and the US at the beginning of May at the earliest.
