The Young Professional Committee's role is to stimulate and optimize the dialogue between the younger professionals (~18-35) and the American/Belgian business community in Belgium.
- Help Young Professionals get experience from top leaders in Belgium
- Inspire Young Professionals and help them develop their career
- Have Young Professionals meet their counterparts from different industries and cultures
- Work on the long-term future and sustainability of AmCham Belgium by getting the next generation involved
The Young Professionals Committee is involved in various types of projects: networking and knowledge-sharing events, mentorship program, position papers…
The Leaders of Today and Tomorrow Speed Networking event pairs 20 young professionals with 20 CEOs during a speed networking session, each Young Professional having the opportunity to discuss for at least five minutes with each of the CEOs present. A perfect occasion to ask questions to a business leader about his or her career and share thoughts on do’s and don’ts in the workplace.
The YP Networking Night, co-organized with other chambers of commerce in Belgium, is the best way to meet more than 150 Young Professionals from various industries and backgrounds in a single evening. The speed networking format is the best to meet and build strong business connections in a short amount of time.
Young Professionals @ Noon is the perfect opportunity for 20 lucky participants to have an informal lunch with a CEO. These events are limited to 20 participants to ease the discussion and enhance the knowledge-sharing experience. The CEO will share his or her personal experience, failures and successes, lessons learned, and challenge the participants with questions to make this lunch as interactive as possible.
Each year, the Young Professionals Committee organizes a VIP reception, where a business and/or political leader is invited to share his or her 'keys to success' and experience in front of an exclusive audience of 100 Young Professionals.
Young Professionals Mentorship Program
The Young Professional Committee runs the AmCham Belgium Mentorship Program. The goal of the Mentorship Program is to match young professionals within the AmCham community with accomplished AmCham business leaders. In doing so, the mentee will receive guidance on his/her career and the mentor for a year, in turn, will receive a fresh perspective from a young professional. The mentoring relationship thus allows for an exchange of knowledge, contacts and insight. Several trainings will be provided to mentees throughout the year to enhance their mentorship experience.
Debates & Position Papers
The Young Professional Committee actively follows trends in the job market and brings forward responses to some of the issues Young Professionals might face through the organization of debates and drafting of position papers.
