US Direct Investment in Belgium suffering more than in neighboring countries
On November 25, AmCham Belgium released the 2009 edition of its annual US Direct Investment in Belgium (USDI) Report.
| AmCham Belgium has been publishing the annual USDI Report since the 1970’s. As a result, the USDI Report has become an indispensable resource for anyone interested in the US-Belgian business environment, including Belgian political leaders, who quote regularly from the Report.
Based on a study conducted by the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, the USDI Report highlights USDI trends and gives an overview of foreign direct investment (FDI) and USDI in Belgium and globally, including:
• Overview of FDI and USDI flows, both globally and in Belgium
• Employment by US firms in Belgium and in Europe
• Growth of US firms per sector relative to Belgian firms
• R&D expenditures by US affiliates in Belgium and other European countries
• Insights on how current trends in FDI and USDI are influenced by the economic crisis and what role investment in research and development will play in the upturn
