PPB Update

In light of political developments, AmCham Belgium postpones launch of PPB

In the light of recent political developments, AmCham Belgium will be launching Priorities for a Prosperous Belgium 2010 once the new federal government has been formed, rather than on May 26 as originally planned. This will ensure your priorities, as laid out in this publication, are at the forefront of the government’s mind when planning its new legislative program.

Federal elections will take place on June 13, 2010 and AmCham Belgium expects that community issues will dominate the election campaign. At the same time, the outgoing “acting” government is unlikely to engage in new strategic actions. However, AmCham Belgium is optimistic that the upcoming Belgian EU Presidency will act as a catalyst for the process of forming a new government in spite of the challenges likely to arise along the way.

“Even with no government, the interests of the US-Belgian business community remain at the forefront as far as AmCham Belgium is concerned,” comments Marcel Claes, Chief Executive of AmCham Belgium. The Chamber will continue to make sure the concerns of its members are known to all party, candidates both before and after the elections.
