Following Herman Van Rompuy’s election as the European Union Council President, the Belgian Federal Government has undertaken some changes.
The position of Prime Minister is now occupied by Yves Leterme, who is also responsible for Belgium’s immigration and asylum policy. While remaining Vice Prime Minister, Steven Vanackere will focus on the country’s foreign policy. The position of Minister for Public Functions and Public Enterprises goes to Inge Vervotte, who has held the same position under the Verhofstadt III government.
