I MISSION & ASPIRATIONS


The Human Resources Committee’s role is to promote a Human Resources environment in Belgium which attracts and develops American business and its employees and contributes to their success.

Overall, the Committee aspires to pursue at least one amendment per year on minimum one piece of legislation that is significant for members in the area of Human Resources

II GOALS


Improve the investment and employment climate through pursuing positive changes with Belgian governments aimed at:
Reducing direct and indirect labor costs
Reducing administrative burdens for employers and potential new employers
Increasing flexibility in working conditions, remuneration and reward
Filling shortages of qualified resources – via “active ageing” policies, mobility, etc.
Improving transparency and simplification of the Social Legislation

The committee aims to continuously improve the exchange of information with the membership, Government authorities and employers and employee organizations.
 

 

 

Committee Projects
 
All of Human Resource Committee’s projects relate to improving the Belgium business climate and facilitating U.S. investment in Belgium. In the past, projects have covered anti-discrimination, mobility, pensions and stock options.
 
Currently, the Committee is working on such essential projects to Doing Business in Belgium as:
 
  • LIMOSA
  • Work permits for expatriates
  • Pan-European Pension Funds
  • Overtime costs and savings
  • Compliance with the Rosetta Plan
  • Time credit for overtime worked
  • 35 hour work week
 
Publications and Updates
 
The Human Resource Committee provides members with regular updates on HR-related topics, including the latest headlines and conference reviews. To keep AmCham Belgium members informed, the Committee regularly produces and contributes to Position Papers, Lobby Flash and Third-Party Documents.
