Thanks to the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), traveling to the U.S. for business or tourism is hassle free. As long as your stay is for 90 days or less, no visa is required. As of August 1, 2008, the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) was made available to citizens and eligible nationals of VWP countries, allowing you to apply for advance authorization to the U.S. via the Internet.
**Starting January 12, 2009, all VWP travelers will be required to obtain an electronic travel authorization prior to travel to the U.S.**
