Vacancy: Policy Intern at AmCham Belgium
This internship position is to be filled as of the week of July 1, 2013, full time, 6 months, with the possibility of an extension.
1. Intern Profile
The Chamber is looking for a person with a background in business/economics, public policy, international relations or related field. Requirements include excellent research and analytical skills; English as mother tongue; knowledge of either French and/or Dutch (ideally both); a high degree of accuracy; a strong sense of responsibility; the ability to work independently and in a team plus a good knowledge of MS Office applications (other IT skills are considered a bonus).
As a member of the team, you will aim to provide members with high-quality, professional service. You should be aware that your duties will also involve basic administrative tasks such as answering member requests by e-mail and telephone or researching information for members. Your ideas and suggestions for improving projects and services will be welcomed, however, and you will be encouraged to actively participate in the Chamber’s projects.
In return, AmCham Belgium offers a monthly stipend, many valuable networking opportunities, exposure to the variety of industry sectors, and a dynamic working environment.
2. Job description
The major duties involve:
- Assisting with the follow-up of the “Priorities for a Prosperous Belgium” report.
- Assisting with the follow-up of the US Direct Investment data and topical Survey
- Monitoring economic/political developments in the media and producing policy-related Focus Articles and PolicyFlash emails.
In addition to these fixed ongoing projects, a number of diverse tasks may be assigned depending on the intern’s abilities. The Policy Intern may be asked to give whatever help needed during busy periods. All his/her tasks are conducted under the daily supervision of the Policy, Finance and Administrative Director.
